Health & Well-being
At EFA, we offer various therapeutic treatments designed to improve quality of life.
Botox® for TMJ Disorder
You’ve probably heard of Botox® for cosmetic purposes, helping you look younger.
But have you heard of therapeutic Botox for facial pain, headaches, and even temporomandibular (TMJ) disorders?
That’s right!
Botox for TMJ disorder may relieve common symptoms, such as teeth clenching and headaches.
How does it work?
In patients suffering from TMJ disorder symptoms, Botox® helps relax tense jaw muscles and alleviate pain. When Botox is injected into a muscle, it blocks the signals sent from the brain which tell the muscle to contract. Botox targets the muscles involved by effectively disarming them and ensuring that they do not send panic signals throughout the body. The body believes that there is no pain being experienced. After an extended period of muscle relaxation it is hoped that the muscle will then be able to contract normally without pain or spasms.
Procedure Outcomes
One of the major advantages of Botox is that there is little or no recovery time, and most people feel fine and can return to their normal life immediately. The results of treatment should last around 3-6 months and the procedure can be repeated after this time.
Vitamin B12 Injections
Vitamins injected are absorbed better by the body than vitamin supplements taken orally.
An injected dose will be fully absorbed by the body, whereas a supplement will only be partially absorbed.
We provide injections of Vitamin B12 which is associated with numerous positive health benefits.
Treatment Benefits
Vitamin B12 is known to help increase energy, or act against low moods, as well as help promote healthy hair and nails, all by encouraging the production of healthy red blood cells which in turn has a positive impact throughout our bodies. Benefits of B12 injections include:
Increases energy levels and concentration
Improves metabolism and helps with weight loss
Boosts the immune system
Helps improve sleep patterns
Helps stop certain symptom which cause hair loss
Improves brain power
Slows memory loss
Lowers the risk of heart disease
Protects against some cancers
Alleviates anxiety, mood swings and depression
Improves skin, hair and nails
What does the treatment involve?
As we deliver the medicine directly into the deltoid muscle at the top of the arm we dramatically increase the usable amount available to the cells in our body; this is the benefit of intramuscular supplementation. One injection may provide several weeks and months worth of benefit without the need to take a daily vitamin B12 supplement, given the amount administered each time. A course of three shots is recommended for maximum benefit.
