Invisalign & Teeth Whitening
At EFA, we offer various therapeutic treatments designed to improve quality of life.
Invisalign
Invisalign® treatment allows you to transform your smile discreetly and comfortably with virtually-invisible, removable braces.
These clear aligners are completely transparent and custom made to gradually straighten your teeth to a new and improved position without using any metal wires or brackets.
How long does Invisalign Treatment take?
Invisalign®clear aligners can help straighten minor to complex teeth misalignment. The length of treatment take an average of six months, but this is dictated by your Invisalign provider depending on how complicated your case is. Most people feel a difference wearing Invisalign aligners after three months, and results are usually noticeable after six months.
What does the treatment involve?
We first arrange for a dental exam in order to fully survey your oral health. The treatment is much more effective if your teeth and gums are healthy and stable.
We need to take impressions of your teeth and mouth shape. These moulds are used to gather accurate measurements for the lab to create bespoke braces or aligners. Once your appliance is ready, we arrange for the fitting.
For clear braces, we need to see you throughout your treatment so we can monitor the progress, making sure your treatment is constantly at work.
When your teeth reach their destination, we catch up and arrange to take impressions for your retainer. It’s an exciting time to see your new straight smile.
What are the primary benefits of Invisalign treatment?
Invisalign clear aligners are virtually invisible — people may not even notice you’re wearing them. You can remove them to eat and drink, to brush and floss, or for special occasions. There are no metal brackets or wires that could irritate your mouth or break and Invisalign clear aligners are removable, so there are no food restrictions at all (hello popcorn!). With traditional wires and brackets, there’s a long list of foods you unfortunately can’t enjoy because they can damage or get stuck in your braces.
Invisalign Before and After
Before treatment, as shown in the photograph below left, the teeth are crooked and reclined. In the photograph below right, taken after concluding Invisalign treatment, the patient’s teeth are noticeably straighter and in alignment.
Teeth Whitening
At EFA, you can opt for either in-surgery or at home whitening, or a combination thereof.
Our whitening treatment uses custom-made mouth trays so you can achieve a whiter smile your way.
How does it work?
Our teeth pick up stains throughout our lives, so it’s no surprise that they change in colour as we get older. The whitening gel contains a small amount of hydrogen peroxide which creates a safe chemical reaction where oxygen molecules are released and break down the stain particles on the teeth surfaces. The reaction also goes deeper and breaks down stains under the enamel, providing a much more complete whitening than shop-bought whitening products. The end result is a dramatically youthful and dazzling smile that you can be proud of
What does the treatment involve?
If you choose to whiten at home, in order to make your custom mouth trays, we need to take accurate impressions of your mouth so they have the best fit. These are sent to the manufacturer where they are crafted from clear plastic. Once we receive them back, we’ll see you again to pick them up and your supply of whitening gel. At EFA we only use Philips Zoom! which is formulated for optimum results with minimal sensitivity.
We’ll talk you through how to apply the gel and how to get the most of your treatment. After two weeks, we’ll see you again and make sure you are completely happy with your white and bright smile.
If you opt to have your teeth whitened in-surgery with us, it will take only one appointment followed by at home top ups with custom trays.
We recommend seeing a hygienist first before having your treatment as a hygienist’s scale and polish will remove surface stains on your teeth.
